Finished pre-assessments

After almost two years filled with assessments the last pre-assessments for the MERIT trial are being finished in the coming weeks. The therapists started with the intervention for the participants who ended up in the active condition. The first personal experiences are positive: several participants seem to benefit from the therapy.

On the other hand some participants dropped out, for various reasons. Fourty sessions of therapy appears to be too big of an investment for some participants whom are already doing relatively well. We’ve also had to say goodbye to three therapists within the study, because they got new jobs.

We hope to finish most interventions and post-measurements within the year, so we can investigate the effectiveness of the therapy.

Meanwhile, Paul Lysaker will visit the Netherlands on May 3rd and 4th to provide a booster session on the method to the therapists. He will also give a presentation about metacognitive psychotherapy, beside prof. Ilanit Hasson – Ohayon, who will speak about the collaboration between patients with a psychotic distorder and their therapist in a Heymans Colloquium in Groningen.
